Niche blogging - How to take over a niche market step by step

Sunday, September 28, 2008 - 09:00
A short post on how to do this. land_type-96_tanks_lg.jpg I recently took over a niche with this blog. I wont tell what niche that is but its not something just anyone would be interested in. Most people want to get in on the big markets like tech, gaming or social networking and they want niche blogs that rule in a market. I just wish I knew more about social networks or tech stuff. Well it would just be nice because its fairly easy to take over a market with a niche blog. Sometimes I just wish I follow my own tips more. Ok let me get to the point before I loose your concentration. When you want your niche blog to rule you have to be prepared to wait and work hard. It does not come overnight but it does not take a few years either. I think you would be able to take over a niche market in a month. That is a fairly medium size niche market. Depends on how much you know of that market. During my post I will be using computers as a example so please bear that in mind when reading. So your aim is to take over the niche market of computers, its huge but with hard work you can get there. 1. Start with the smallest part Start blogging with the smallest part like mouses or keyboards, or a market that you can clearly see has not been filled to the brim. Blog about that for about a month. Use one category and one tag for each of the things you blog about, for each of your posts. A good way is to try a few keywords in Google and see which of them shows wikipedia first. If it shows wikipedia first then you know its a good place to start. Blog about that and make sure you take over the market. Its not hard. Use the subdomain technique I wrote about earlier here Using the subdomain hack will guarantee you a place on the first place of Google depending how hard you work on it. Once you are on the first page of Google for something like keyboards start selling keyboards. 2. Piece by piece This might seem ridiculous for you but it works for me. I do this on all my blogs. Start blogging about every piece of computers as mentioned above. It might take time but get on top for those parts on search engines and make sure not to go on with the next part before you have taken over the one part's market. Once again you can use subdomains for each as shown here 3. Start blogging about the big stuff When you have blogged and taken over most of the parts you can start blogging like the bigger blogs. Start blogging about things on the same level as other big blogs posting your hardware in between to keep the status going. Especially if you used the subdomain trick here This means blogging about "computers" or whatever it is in general, not focusing on the small stuff so much anymore, but blogging it as in general. You should also leave the hardest parts for last as this can be more of a mission to take over. Like monitors for instance. Start more than one subdomain if needed for those parts that is hardest. 4. Take over the niche market The next step is to take over the niche market completely. Get people to work for you and ask for guest bloggers. Taking over the niche market means targeting things like technorati ranks etc. You will succeed if you keep on blogging about all aspects of that niche blog as you direct your subdomains you made and as shown in the subdomain tutorial. Gizmodo posts around 50 posts a day, you can do the same. Basically the most important part is step 1 and 2. Please also keep in mind, although these steps are simple they do take some time and it can be very hard to take a big market but you should be able to do it like this. I guess I can go on typing about this but I just wanted to share these tips. Please leave comments and tell me what I left out.

Hi, I just found your blog through Moolahking. You tried the Wordpress update plugin, hope it went well for you.

Now to your post. God have mercy! I was delighted to find that you're interests are also "war" themed.

This was a great read how to take "snipe" keywords and I've never found such useful information describing how it's done.

One thing I hope you did was prove this first and not just write your unproven theory. ;)

Yes I have proved it :) I
