Emigration

Saturday, April 11, 2009 - 06:36

I find a lot of resources for people wanting to emigrate to other places. A lot of people will tell you there is violence and crime in all countries and there might be. But the other countries don't have governments that supports those crimes, those governments are usually not part of the problem but of the solution. South Africa might be one of the most beautiful countries in the world but it's not safe here. I will try to make a guide here to help you emigrate or to just give you a idea of what to expect as well as emigration requirements to a bunch of countries you might feel you want to go to. There are a couple of options.

I have over the years done research of which countries you can go to with an South African passport the easiest. Remember you first have to be able to immigrate before you start looking for work in that country.

Firstly there are our neighboring countries such as Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique but they are underdeveloped countries and their main source is in Tourism so you have to be careful where you go. Botswana and Mozambique are at the moment encouraging white farmers too move there to help build their farming infrastructure, so if you have any experience in horticulture you could immigrate to either of them.

Namibia is a bit of a different story because it's population is so small and the country so big. It rather feels more like an saver extension of South Africa it has big cities and all. It is rather simple to immigrate there especially if you are a entrepreneur and have the money to set yourself up.

If you are looking to move abroad in the sense over the sea far away to a different culture there are a couple of easy ones. The easiest country I have come across is Canada. Canada has a small population and not a lot of people can live there because of the cold conditions, so the Canadian government has immigration programs to populate their country with the right type of people. If you have and degree in any medical field it is almost guaranteed that you can get an working visa or get permanent residence. It is an country I myself would have loved to move too but my family are not fond of the cold so I took them into consideration. There are cities as you can see in these pictures but for the most part of Canada is under ice during winter.

There is also Brazil. This might be one you have not come across before because not a lot of people think to move over to one of the largest countries in the world. But there is a market gap for people who are willing to teach English . Now they also have a rather large crime rate and you might not become rich but the living quality is so much better because the crime is mainly in big cities and mostly involve gangs not normal people. Plus the weather is great and if you love being relaxed and have a good time you would enjoy living there.

Then the more popular option Australia and New Zealand. These two are the more difficult ones. You need money and lots of it. Last time I checked they required you to have $200 00 Australian dollars in your bank. Then you have to live in a designated town for 5years before you can application for full citizenship. To me their rules are really strict especially a country that originally was 'prison' but never mind that this has to be the best choice for those who can afford it. Why I say this, is because these two countries are the most like our country without the crime :) There is also the United Kingdom. But after resent events and bad behavior of our citizens in their country and the economy that it is, it would be a miracle if you got in with just an normal South African visa.
