Sorry to say, it is the majority. Thanks for the comment.
South Africans are not considered very bright or sophisticated, because, in general, they are not! They have very little cultural interest. I am a South African, and have yet to overhear South Africans at any art galleries, bookshops, concerts of anything other than pop-music, the list goes on and on. They may work hard, indeed, they have always had the reputation of doing so, but are frequently very narrow and dull.
I'm gonna have to agree with you on that one Richard.
When I went to England I was embarased when people asked me if I was south african. You see a large group of us worked at a resort then on their night of the South Africans would get so drunk and misbehave so badly that some of them was kicked of the premises. The next day while working at the till everyone kept asking me if I was part of the group. It was very embarrassing and by far not the first time it happened. Yes there are some who do not deserve to fall under this category but most are just kids going over there. I have a couple of friends still in England and honestly they are hard working good people but they all live far apart and mainly hang out with other foreigners. My favorite thing was going around where no one could understand you and learning a new culture.
Richard I have to agree with you mostly, I worked at a theater a couple of times and honestly have not seen one South African there.
Evl, Daizy and Richard don't forget your roots!!!
